Tripoli’s Port as an Alternative
Al Jazeera | August 6, 2020
Lebanon relies heavily on trade, therefore the closure of Beirut's port has a huge impact on the country.
Dr. Patrick Mardini explained that due to the economic recession the country is witnessing, only 30% of the capacity of Beirut's port was being used. As a result, transferring shipments through Tripoli's port while using Tripoli's economic zone would be a good idea in the mean time.
Moreover, Dr. Mardini emphasized on the importance of contracting the port to a private company to fix, manage and run it.
