Program Manager

Location: Tripoli, Lebanon

Post Title: Program Manager

Duty Station: LIMS Office in Tripoli, with frequent meetings in Beirut

Reports to: Director

Start of Contract: Immediately

Type: 2 months trial period, followed by a one year contract based on performance.

The Lebanese Institute for Market Studies – LIMS is a free market think tank aiming to restore economic freedom in Lebanon. The institute addresses Lebanon’s economic challenges through research, education and discussion.  LIMS offers training seminars, organizes roundtables, and provide solutions to political parties on specific topics. The institute also works with media on raising awareness and promoting policy solutions to current challenges.

We're looking for a Program Manager who will build and develop a working relationship with target audience on different levels.

Duties include:

  1. Create a network of connections with LIMS target audience: political parties, media, business community, etc., build and update a comprehensive database, reach out and obtain feedback, conduct evaluation and reviews, and work with director on resolving areas of concerns.
  2. Connect to target audience and promote LIMS advocacy and/or awareness raising campaigns.
  3. Promote LIMS’ programs, invite target audience, speakers, and key stakeholders, ensure high quality participation, registration, close follow up, and on time arrival, and produce content for marketing collaterals, handouts, invitations, etc.
  4. Plan and execute programs’ details and logistics, including: packing, transport, timely set up and dismantle, staff and trainers scheduling, photos and videos, and post-event evaluation including surveys, and other metrics.
  5. Provide content for community manager and ensure a uniform communication (written and oral) across different channels.
  6. Draft reports concerning relations with target audience, campaigns, programs, and communication channels, and establish accountability systems and assessment metrics to ensure that all goals are met.
  7. Develop and implement systems and procedures to enhance events’ impact, retain participants, and provide coaching and mentoring to support alumni and future participants
  8. Provide leadership, motivation, direction and support to volunteers and be able to delegate to them.
  9. Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously; set, communicate and maintain timelines and priorities on every project
  10. Securely manage and store all marketing materials and equipment when not in use.

 

Your application must describe your qualifications and/or experience as they relate to:

  1. Understanding and advocating economic freedom and free market economics
  2. Working collaboratively and successfully with different political parties on common projects
  3. Organizing and managing events
  4. Creating, developing, and implementing comprehensive long and short-term strategic communications plans.

You must also have:

  1. Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic
  2. Ability to establish and maintain exceptional relations and partnerships.
  3. Solid organizational, project management and time management skills; ability to multi-task with an attention to detail and results driven to deliver on demanding timeframes.
  4. Solid analytical, active listening, critical thinking, and service orientation skills.
  5. Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, and infrastructure.
  6. Strong knowledge of current political situation and economic debates.
  7. Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

Minimum requirements

  1. Master’s degree in communication, information, economics, political science, or related fields
  2. English (fluent), Arabic (fluent)
  3. Existing portfolio of political contacts is a plus

Attributes

  1. Gravitas. This position requires the ability to work directly with executive and members. In other words, a certain level of seriousness in person, and in writing, is expected.
  2. Can Do Attitude. It also requires a “can do” attitude and a willingness to switch from swabbing the deck to public speaking at an event.
  3. High Quality Written and Oral Expression. The Program Manager will not only plan events but will lead and execute them so will need to draft the content, and will also need to be able to speak with ease in front of groups. In anticipation of, and in follow up to, events, much written communication will be required so the ability to write well is a must.

Assistant

Location: Tripoli, Lebanon

Level: Full Time - Entry Level
Type: 2 months internship, followed by a one year contract based on performance

The Lebanese Institute for Market Studies – LIMS is a free market think tank aiming to restore economic freedom in Lebanon. The institute addresses Lebanon’s economic challenges through research, education and discussion.  LIMS offers training seminars, organizes roundtables, and provide solutions to political parties on specific topics. The institute also works with media on raising awareness and promoting policy solutions to current challenges.

Duties include:

  1. Schedule meetings, arrange conference rooms, receive visitors, alert about cancelations or new meetings, prepare agenda for meetings, and take and transcribe dictation
  2. Maintain calendars and travel arrangements, prepare itineraries and schedule and organize, compile and maintain travel vouchers and records
  3. Interact on the phone, screen, analyze, and respond to incoming correspondence, arrange for outgoing mail and packages and handle information requests,
  4. Follow up on logistics issues related to the programs such as obtaining quotes, booking conference rooms, arrange for transportation, etc.
  5. Coordinate management activities, relay directives, instructions and assignment, and provide administrative and clerical support.
  6. Performs a wide variety of support duties involving budgets, policies, procedures, organization, planning, contracts, facilities, systems, equipment, supplies, personnel and special projects; performs related duties as assigned.
  7. Take part of organizing events

Your application must describe your qualifications and/or experience as they relate to:

  1. Working with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and internet/email
  2. Providing Bilingual (English and Arabic) front line dealing with staff, suppliers, external contracts in person, by telephone and in writing.
  3. Performing various clerical duties, including updating and maintaining data, filing records, maintaining databases, asking for quotations, typing correspondence, following up on suppliers, preparing and dealing with invoices.

You must also have:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (both in English and Arabic)
  2. Ability to type/keyboard at a fair rate of speed with accuracy.
  3. Ability to maintain manual and computerized filing systems.
  4. Interpersonal skills with the ability to meet and interact with all levels of partners
  5. Excellent organization skills, and ability to work in a demanding, high volume environment both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.

  1. Bachelor degree in communication, business, social sciences, or related fields (Language of instruction: English)
