Government Spending Remains the Root Cause of the Crisis

Lebanon's foreign minister Nassif Hitti has resigned from his post. The Lebanese government is almost bankrupt and has failed to implement reforms to get an IMF bailout. Dr. Mardini explained that the country is witnessing the harshest economic recession and suffering from hyperinflation mainly due to excessive government spending over many years. Also, Dr. Mardini highlighted the importance of applying structural reforms on sectors such as electricity, water and roads .
